Chiropractic in Our Office
We are a "cash-practice" office. Our focus is to consistently deliver easy, affordable, convenient, effective chiropractic care! After working through the legalities and wading through the nuances of insurance coverage for chiropractic care, we have found that the majority of insurance plans have quite high deductibles and copays. In fact, many plans require patients to pay 100% out-of-pocket for their care prior to their deductible being met. We believe that it is best to cut insurance out of the equation and keep it simple for both our office and for you. By eliminating insurance from our office, we can cut down on the paperwork (and confusion!), exams, extra fees, keeping up with ever-changing plans (and healthcare laws) so that Dr. Daniele can focus on her patients, not paperwork. In our office, your chiropractic care will always be $30 for an adjustment, no matter what! This means that we will never charge any extra fees for exams, extremity adjustments, etc. It only takes a couple of minutes for an experienced chiropractor to give a good adjustment. Without billing and paperwork hassles, we feel $30 is a fair exchange for this service. Additionally, we will discount your massage by $10 when you receive an adjustment and a massage on the same day. Dr. Daniele will perform a detailed history along with a full exam to customize treatment and recommendations for each individual -- no cookie cutter “care plans” here! If x-rays or further testing is required for a complete diagnosis, a proper referral will be made.
Convenience is the name of the game at our office so, Dr. Daniele will gladly see you on a walk-in basis (you’re also welcome to schedule an appointment in advance, if you prefer). Both chiropractic and massage will be open six days a week, Monday through Saturday. Chiropractic will be open until 6:00 pm three nights a week; massage therapy until 7:30 pm four nights a week. Both chiro and massage will be available during lunch time.
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic health care is a profession that treats disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractors use a hands-on, drug-free approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Although Chiropractors are best known for their expertise in the use of spinal manipulation, they are also trained in providing therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, and to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.
How does Chiropractic work?
Our bodies are magnificent machines that possess an amazing innate ability to repair damage. In a world where we are bombarded with advertisements for the latest and greatest drugs literally everywhere we look, it can disillusion us to believe that drugs have the magical power to cure all that ails us. Drugs may manage symptoms, but they do not always cure! The best cure is to put our bodies in an optimal state to utilize our innate healing ability. Chiropractic care is used to initiate this process by correcting subluxations (misalignments of the spine) that create interference. This is vitally important because ALL information that our bodies need to function flows through the nerves, which originate in our brain and spine! Our nerves tell our muscles to move, our lungs to breathe, our stomach to digest and our hearts to beat (to name just a few functions)! Subluxations interfere with this flow of information from the spinal cord and through the spinal nerves to our skin, tissues, muscles and organs! Over time, this can and will lead to illness, dysfunction and disease!
Many people think that they should only see a chiropractic when they are in pain. This is the equivalent to not doing any maintenance on your car and waiting for your tires to blow out or engine to seize up. Just like we wouldn't ignore our car's maintenance until it has a blow-out or breakdown, we should not ignore our body's maintenance either. Chiropractic care is maintenance for your body! Many people also believe that an annual adjustment will tide them over just fine for the year. Chiropractic care is an ongoing process because life is an ongoing process. Getting adjusted once does not keep the body subluxation-free for an indefinite period of time. Subluxations mostly occur from the Three T’s: trauma (sports injuries, car accidents or from a sudden jar from a fall), toxins and thought; technology is another T that has been recently added to the list of common causes of subluxation. Thus, subluxations can occur from everyday life.
The Chiro - Massage Connection
Performing activities such as consistently carrying a heavy purse or bag, stomach-sleeping, lifting heavy objects, sitting on a wallet all day, looking down at a computer monitor for prolonged time and POOR POSTURE, can create muscle imbalances, which can pull the vertebrae out of alignment. Vertebrae become misaligned when the muscles attached to them are not exerting equal force, and this is where the relationship between chiropractic and massage therapy aligns. Chiropractic focuses on adjusting the spine to create movement in the joints and realign the spine; whereas massage therapy focuses on correcting the muscle imbalances. A person experiencing muscular pain always indicates a muscular imbalance, functional muscles don't hurt. If the muscles are out of balance, more than likely the vertebrae are as well. Our bodies are a whole, complex system. We cannot isolate and fix one piece.
